Message from the President: The Sustainability Movement

October 30, 2009

Kevin Pass, President
Kevin Pass, President

What is sustainability? You may think you don't know the answer, but chances are you do. The definition of sustainable is, "of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged." Sustainability is a very broad term and can be applied to everything we do.

The sustainability movement is sweeping the nation and we feel it's important for you to know that Action Pest Control is a part of that. This is not to say that we don't have need for improvements. But, Action has taken and continues to move forward with important steps to reduce our impact on the environment.

One of the ways we've reduced our carbon footprint is by equipping all of our service vehicles with GPS's. This has allowed us to tighten our routes. We've actually used 600 less gallons of gas compared to this same time last year. In our Indianapolis office, we will be going to a paperless system beginning November, 1. Our Indy customers will have online access to all the information previously left on printed service tickets. In addition, we are implementing recycling programs at all of our branches.

It's important to remember that many small changes can result in big changes. So, whether it's bringing your own reusable bags to the grocery store or closing off unused areas of your home from heating and air conditioning, remember that we can all make a difference.
